Donna Malloy, 1945 – 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Malloy, who departed this world on February 28, 2026 at the age of 81 years. Donna was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Audubon to Alfred O. and Dorthy Irene (Faaborg) Christensen.  She was a beacon of love, laughter, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Donna’s journey through life was one of dedication and resilience. She spent her professional years expertly managing apartment buildings in Las Cruces and Santa Fe, New Mexico, before returning to Iowa to be closer to her cherished family.  There, she continued her career managing apartments in Boone and later found fulfillment working with American Home Shield in Churdan until her well-deserved retirement.

On March 27, 1993, Donna married the love of her life, Arthur Malloy.  Together, they shared a beautiful partnership filled with love and laughter until Arthur’s passing. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a true partnership in every sense.

Donna was a woman of many talents and passions. Her creative spirit found expression in countless hours spent crafting. Whether quilting, making photo albums, designing cards, or creating scrapbooks, Donna’s hands were always busy bringing beauty and joy into the world. Her home was filled with the warmth of her creations, and crafting shows were a constant presence on her television, inspiring her next project.

Beyond her love for crafting Donna was an ardent supporter of her grandchildren, frequently attending their sports and dance performances, with basketball holding a special place in her heart. Her presence was a cherished fixture at their events, always there with a smile and a word of encouragement.

Donna’s remarkable sense of humor and sharp wit, often laced with a delightful touch of sarcasm, endeared her to all who knew her.  It was a quality she lovingly passed on to her children, ensuring that laughter would continue to echo through the generations.

Donna is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Malloy; her parents, Alfred and Dorthy Christensen; her brother Jerry and his wife, Carol Christensen; and her granddaughter, Ashley Lebeck. Donna leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving family, which includes her children, who are forever grateful for the lessons she imparted, and 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit of creativity and humor.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Donna’s name to Churdan Fire and Rescue. A service of remembrance was held March 5 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson, with Randy Lebeck presiding.  At a later date, private family interment will take place at Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan.
